Hi! Welcome to the Crown Heights Career Hub Blog! This is our online community where we post articles, photos, updates, and connect with you in an online forum. Also make sure to check out our IG, FB, and website www.chcareerhub.org for updates, news, and happenings.

For starters, let me introduce us! We are a new career program based in Brooklyn, New York, specifically in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn. We were started to meet the need for sustainable employment & lack of job skills in the young adult Jewish population.

What do we do?

The Crown Heights Career Hub Formula is such:

6 weeks of Job Skills Training in the Classroom


8 weeks of on-the-job experience in a paid internship


Job placement in a job field with growth potential

This formula was uniquely put together by experts in job and workforce development, and professionals who understand the current job market and projected job trends and growth in NYC. These young men and women don’t necessarily have a college education, we are working with a High School/GED equivalency background, as well as specified skills and talents present in the religious Jewish community.

The premise is: with an education in computer skills, job resume and application knowledge, and increased awareness and understanding of interpersonal dynamics in the workplace these individuals are armed with tools to succeed at work. Then with an eight week internship they will get on-the-job training without the pressure of being newly hired - they can make mistakes, learn as they go, and test out new waters with confidence and the continued support of our staff at CH Career Hub who will check in weekly as to how things are going and/or address any challenges that may come up.

The goal is upon completion of our program, we can place them in jobs where they will shine in their positions and progress upwards to slowly become managers, supervisors, and support themselves and a family financially.

Meet Our Staff!

Neil, Program director: He has worked in job development as a recruiter and job lead developer for over 10 years in the NYC area, across many diversified populations and industries. He also brings start-up experience to our organization as well as the multi-talented ability to orchestrate site construction, job networking, and funder schmoozing all at once.

Shirit, Program assistant: She has worked as a job coach directly at job sites, training and assisting individuals in easing into new jobs as well as checking in on currently employed participants who need more support. She also joins us with an administrative, social media, organization, and an office management background.

Mr. Pena, Instructor: He is a physician, a medical doctor by trade originally from South America. He consults companies and individuals on hardware, software, system analysis & design, EHR, payroll, computerized accounting (Quick Books & Peach Tree), etc. He teaches our students hard skills - Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Powerpoint, and other computer applications useful in the workplace.

Mr. Zapata, Instructor: He has instructed and trained over 850 students to use MS Office over a 10 years period. Teaches a wide variety of computer applications, and is completing his Masters in Computer Instruction. He teaches our students soft skills - how to interact in the workplace, associate with a boss/manager, and manage a team.
